A social media post by Madawaska Police, Chief Ross Dubois has gone viral. He warned readers that the 'Cookie Cartel' was coming with, "highly addictive substances."
The post has reached news outlets as far away as Kentucky and Oregon. Of course when you read on it's a lighthearted story about the Girl Scouts selling their wares.
"We have received reports that highly addictive substances will soon be circulating in our area . These substances go by the street names of Carmel deLites, Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, Thanks-A-Lot, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Shortbread and S’mores. This “Cookie Cartel” is run primarily by young girls who lure you in with a good cause story and soon you’re addicted to these dangerously delicious things. If you come into contact with any of these cookies, you can drop them off at the Police Department. Officer Garrett Albert has courageously volunteered to "dispose" of them."

Oil is a huge topic right now with the extreme cold in Maine. Many oil dealers are having problems with demand when it comes to timely delivery. What do you do if you're not locked in to automatic delivery?
One answer is to call one of the companies presented in this post. This may not be the be-all and end-all solution to solve all problems but at least least you'll have a resource to check.
What would you do if you won half a billion dollars? Both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots are that high.
As I write this, the Powerball jackpot for Saturday (01/06/18) is 570 million dollars and tonight's (01/05/18) Mega Millions jackpot isn't far behind at 450 million. Even after taxes it's a massive amount of money.
I would probably buy a radio group and hire and keep good people and dabble here and there with a show now and again.
I would also give to charities I believe in which include the American Red Cross, those doing cancer research and would give money to organizations that help with addiction recovery and help those with mental health issues.
Other that that, I'd help family, close friends and make sure my kids were set with college tuition. Lastly, invest, pay off the house, cars and take a really long vacation.
What about you, what would you do with all that money?
Everyday you hear me say, "I'm George with you", "I'm George hanging out" or some other variation in introduction but I never really get the chance to say who I am in the sense of a bio.
So, here it is!
I was born in 1972 in Whittier, California (maybe that's why I'm so funny?). From sunny So Cal as an infant we moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada and there is where I grew up.
I knew from a young age that all I wanted to do was be a radio star. Ok, I've been in radio for about 25 years now but as for the term "star", that's pushing it.
At the age of 22 in 1995 I moved to Bangor for a part time radio gig at a Top 40 station. In September of 1996, that station flipped to Country and was let go. From there I was on to the next, 92 Moose in Augusta. Again at 92 Moose at that time it was a part time stint mostly weekends and fill-ins.
My life changed when I moved onto Mix 999/WLAM in the fall of 1997. I spent only about a year there when the studios were located at 912 Washington St. in Auburn, but, this is where I met my wife, Lynn.
Since, professionally before Gleason Media (The Ox and Z) I've had a part time position at WMGX 93.1 in South Portland from 1999-2000, and then came my 15 years at 92 Moose in Augusta as 'Greg Michaels'.
Now, you're up to date in my professional life; now on to my personal life.
As I mentioned above I met my wife at Mix 999, it was back in May of 1998. We dated for a couple of years, got married in August of 2000. We have three wonderful kids, Dylan who is a freshman at UMaine in Orono, Justin who is a sophomore at ELHS and Vikki who is in the 1st grade.
I'd have to do the math to be certain but I think I've lived in Auburn now longer than I have any other city, it's 19 years this month!

Make sure you're stocked with water, batteries and non perishables in case of a power outage. Also it is a good idea to charge your cell phone and fuel your vehicle. Amounts of snow differ depending on who you're listening to or watching but you can keep up with the latest in weather conditions hourly on the stations of Gleason Media.
We will be on the air with cancellations and other storm information Thursday and Friday as needed!
